Someone Please Give Me A Job
It is very rare that I find a job for which I can apply with the qualifications I have. This is so very frustrating and demoralising. Worse is that twice in the last year jobs I have applied for have been withdrawn after my application has been accepted, once after I attended an interview and got a call offering me the job.
Someone please give me a job and stop making my life a misery. Please.
Thank you for your application for the above post. However I regret to inform you, that due to unforeseen circumstances this post has been withdrawn.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused by this decision.
Do you have to go through the JC or can you just go sign up with an agency or something? I got a lot of offers through myleedsjobs.co.uk, and most of them were just through signing up with loads of agencies. If you go to mywestyorkshirejobs.co.uk, you can search through Bradford.
If you do a proper carpet-bombing of every single agency you can think of, something *has* to come up.
Have you got back in touch with the places that have withdrawn their offers and asked them why? They’re legally obliged to tell you! I’d be grilling them until they told me what the craic was….
Thanks for the links, I’ll give those sites a try.
I use the job centre online search but nothing normally comes up. I found this one on the leeds council website and most of the ones I’ve applied for I’ve found on none job centre related sites. I’m signed up to a few agencies who swore they would have me work with in the week but that was a few months ago. When I ring em they just speal me.
Apparently the position was withdrawn due to ‘lack of funding’. I know they’re obliged to tell me why they withdrew the position, and why if I got to interview stage and didn’t get it, but it doesn’t make much difference; I still didn’t get it and I’m not going to.
For example I had an interview at Leeds Met earlier this year. Really good interview, positive response; didn’t get the job. They filled the position internally. Then I got a call from the head of that school asking if I wanted the position left by the person moving to the new one. I said yes, he assured me it would work out but after a couple of months phoning every few days and being told they were waiting for ‘paperwork’ it turns out it was a load of bullshit and they never had the position. Why oh why did this idiot get my hopes up? I wanted to do something with that, complain or rock the boat some how but I came to the conclusion of “Why bother? It’s effort for me and I’m still going to have no job and not benefit from complaining. Best using my time to look for another job”.
I’m sure something will come up eventually. Just got to keep positive and keep looking.
I quite like the idea of carpet bombing agencies though. Very appealing.
